How to read the label

• Ingredient order is concentration order. Water is virtually always first. If castor oil sits in the back third of the list, behind fragrance, it is present in token amounts.
• "Contains JBCO" is a line name, not a dose. Product families are built around an ingredient story; the actual castor content varies widely across the line's shampoo, masque, and leave-in.
• Check for the things that affect you. Sulfates, fragrance, peppermint, and essential oils matter more to a sensitive scalp than the castor content does.

Pick shampoo and conditioner on cleansing strength, scent tolerance, and cost — the castor branding is a minor factor.
