How to Use Castor Oil for Hair Without the Mess

Patch-test before scalp use

Apply a small amount of the finished mixture behind the ear or on the inner arm and leave it undisturbed for 24 hours. Do not continue if redness, itching, swelling, or a rash develops. A patch test reduces risk but cannot guarantee that a full scalp application will be comfortable.

Dilute for easier application

Start with roughly one part castor oil to one or two parts of a lighter carrier oil such as jojoba or argan. This is a practical texture adjustment, not a medical formula.
